Painting kitchen cabinets and units for the first time can be a major decision for most people. Once painted there’s no real going back! Usually, people think about painting kitchen cabinets because the old varnished or oiled wood look has become old and applying a few coats of paint can really dramatically change the look of the kitchen. Another good reason for painting kitchen cabinets and units etc. is because a new kitchen can be very expensive and if your current kitchen works well for you, but just looks a little shabby, then painting it is the next best thing to a new kitchen. Personally, I think painting kitchen cabinets can be better than buying a brand new kitchen. With a new kitchen, you will have a big cost, then there’s all the upheaval as the old kitchen is ripped out and the new one is installed and these days a lot of new kitchens need to be hand-painted when installed anyway!
This kitchen looked quite old and shabby. The kitchen’s owner was torn between buying a new kitchen or just painting the kitchen cabinets. As you can see she decided to have the kitchen hand painted with Farrow & Ball paint in the colour Dimity. Throw in some new handles and it looks like a brand new kitchen.
This old kitchen had never been painted as you can see. The lady of the house had decided to take the plunge and paint these old kitchen cabinets instead of buying a new kitchen. It was hand painted with Farrow & Ball eggshell, the colour is green blue. Again, some new handles really finished it off nicely.
As you can see the old dresser, shelf and radio were painted in Farrow & Ball green blue too.
